Advancement of Camcorders
Remy JirekThe advancements of camcorders have been huge. Remember when we used to have to carry around those big camcorders that used a regular size VHS tape? Now you can buy these small little cameras that record onto DVD. We have also gone from analog camcorders to hi definition camcorders, and digital video cameras, and hi-Res camcorders. There are many options available to consumers. The options don't stop at the camcorder either; you also have a wide variety of accessories to choose from. Much advancement has been made to the camcorder since they first came out, and more advancement will continue to be made.
Today camcorders do not seem like a particularly technologically advanced piece of equipment, however if you were to look at what the world was like only five years ago, you would see that the camcorders of today are incredibly advanced, especially when compared to the types of technology that were available back then.
What are Camcorders?
Camcorders are portable electronic devices that are used for recording video images and audio onto a storage device and the typical camcorder contains both a camera and a recorder in one unit. Originally, camcorders were designed to broadcast television images, in that they were created for use on television only.
However, as technology advanced, miniaturization eventually enabled the construction of portable video cameras and portable video recorders, meaning that they were now basically available as home devices.
It was in fact 1982 when Sony released the first ever-professional camcorder, and although at first there wasn't a favorable response from the market, soon after camcorders were considered as being all the rage. Throughout the 1990s, camcorder sales had the unintended side-effect of actually hurting the still camera photography market, and among the mass consumer market, camcorders gradually replaced still cameras for vacation and travel use.
Basically, a camcorder contains that of three major components, which are the lens, the imager, and the recorder. What the lens does is it gathers and focuses light on the imager, while the imager converts that of incident light into an electrical signal, and the recorder is used to encode the video signal into a storable form. The imager section in particular is considered as being the eye of the camcorder, and the recorder is responsible for writing the video signal onto a recording medium so that it is stored and can be watched and edited later on.
There are many uses in the world of today for a camcorder, including that of media, home video, politics, entertainment and movies, and voyeurism. In regards to media, which is still one of the most popular fields for a camcorder, camcorders have found use in nearly all corners of the field.
Regardless of what you are planning on using it for, the camcorder is truly an important part of today's world. With a camcorder you can capture things on tape that are important to you and watch them years down the road, feeling as though you are right back in that moment of when it happened.
